Good News at the Bay: CBGC Achieves GEO Certification!

We’re proud to share some exciting news with our members: Cordova Bay Golf Course has recently become the 3rd course in Canada to achieve GEO Certification, an internationally recognized acknowledgment of our commitment to sustainability and responsible golf course management.

The GEO sustainability agenda is built around three key themes: Nature, Resources and Community. We’re pleased to say that all three are very much part of life here at the Bay.

Nature: A welcome addition to the neighbourhood

Our Purple Martin birdhouses are doing their job! The local Purple Martin population has increased, with the improvement verified by the Purple Martin Bird Society. It’s a wonderful example of how our golf course can provide a home for local wildlife while preserving the natural character that makes playing here so enjoyable.

Resources: Thinking about tomorrow

Our maintenance building is powered by solar energy, and we’re working toward converting our maintenance fleet to 100% electric. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and managing the course responsibly for the future.

Community: Growing something good

Our on-course gardens do more than add colour and character to the property. The produce and flowers grown here have been sold to support local charities, helping us share the benefits of our gardens with the wider community.

A course we can all be proud of.

GEO Certification recognizes the work being done at Cordova Bay, but we see it as a milestone rather than a finish line. There will always be opportunities to improve how we care for the land, use our resources and contribute to our community.

Our members have always been an important part of what makes Cordova Bay special. You help make this more than a golf course. It’s a gathering place, a community and, for many of us, a second home.

We’re delighted to add GEO Certification to the list of things that make the Bay a little different.

Enjoy your next round, keep an eye out for our feathered residents, and take a little extra pride in your course. Good things are growing at the Bay!
