Letting Others do the Talking
In 2010 the team at Cordova Bay was the recipient of two very special awards.
Firstly, our superintendent Dean Piller was named Superintendant of the Year by the Canadian Superindents Association - a testimony to the spectacular condition Dean and his crew keep Cordova Bay Golf Course in.
The deer were also very impressed.
Secondly, our entire team was honored by the PGA of British Columbia's Facility of the Year Award. What's most special about this award is the comments that our members and most frequent players submitted on our behalf. We were all deeply moved.
Jim had tears.
Here are a selection of comments:
"What makes Cordova Bay so special is the people. All the staff from the kitchen and dining room servers to the pros go out of their way to help. What is more important is they make you feel welcome. I am a high handicapper and I have always been made to feel that I was as important to the golf club as the scratch golfers. The condition of the course is always consistent even in the winter. It is always with pride that I take out of town guests to golf at Cordova Bay."
"Cordova Bay Golf Club is a wonderful testament to the conscientious private owners who provide all that is required for golfers to enjoy their outing. The club embodies all that is good about owners, staff, facilities and has consistently demonstrated a quest for ever improving all aspects of the facility...."
"I'm happy to add that the course is always in the best condition of any course in the city. The flower beds, shrubs and trees that add to the beauty of the course are outstanding, amazing when one thinks of the maintenance required to do so. And that is all year round. As to the staff; one could not ask for a more friendly, knowledgeable and helpful group of professionals...."
"I must say I was not surprised to hear that you have that nomination. As you know I have long enjoyed playing at Cordova Bay and still being a Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club member (49 years in fact) I can honestly compare the course, and staff to that of a private club and with out hesitation I can say that Cordova Bay is on par...."
"The Cordova Bay facility and its staff have been integral to the development of the love of golf for our entire family. My wife, 11 year old son, 15 year old daughter and I have benefited from excellent club fitting and instruction. Further, the Ridge par 3, its 18-hole putting course and short game area - a great complement to the practice range at the main course - provide the perfect combination of fun and skill development for our family...."
